Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University (SDSUU)is established as a State University of Uttarakhand vide State Government notification No 270/XXXVI(3)/2012/48(1)/2012 on October 19, 2012 in continuation to amendment of erstwhile Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Uttarakhand Vishwavidhyalaya Act 2011 (Uttarakhand Act No 22 of 2011) as notified by State Government vide No 357/XXXVI(3)/201 1/57(1)/2010 on November 4, 2011. The emblem of the university has the motifs of Himalayas, its valleys and ridges, a flowing river, green plains and a light yellow coloured forest flower. The mountain peak is crested by laurels supporting an open book. All these are ensconced by a yellow coloured circular border which bears the name of the university in Devanagari and English. The scenery and the flower feature in this emblem is a presentation of the geographical features of the land. The laurels signifies victory and achievement. They are often used in awards ceremonies and they are also a popular choice for graduation ceremonies and are a reminder of the hard work and dedication that it takes to achieve success and the book signifies knowledge and wisdom.
