SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY

The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

DIGILOCKER DigiLocker is an online service provided by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India under its Digital India initiative. DigiLocker provides an account in cloud to every Indian citizen to access authentic documents and certificates such as driving licence, vehicle registration, academic mark list in digital format from the original issuers of these certificates. It also provides one GB storage space to each account to upload scanned copies of legacy documents. Its emblem in purple colour has a cloud with a keyhole with a background of a document. Its name is written alongside and its tag line is written below the name.

GOVERNMENT COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, ANANTNAG (WC ANANTNAG) The emblem of Government College for Women, Anantnag (WC Anantnag) features an eagle with its wings spread and supporting an oval seal. The seal features a green chinar leaf and the border ensconcing it is inscribed with its motto in ‘اُطْلُبُوا العِلْمَ مِنَ المَهْدِ إِلَى اللَّحْدِ’, and its translation ‘Seek Knowledge from the Cradle to the Grave’. The name and place of the college is written on a banner placed below the seal. The chinar leaf represents the natural heritage, resilience and unique cultural identity of Jammu and Kashmir. The soaring eagle crowning the emblem with wide, spread wings symbolises high aspirations, freedom, courage and sharp vision. The motto in Urdu ‘زندگی شمع کی صورت ہو خدایا میری’, which translates to ‘O God! May My Life Be Like That of a Candle’. The chinar leaf refers to Jammu and Kashmir, the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; and the lighted candle symbolises enlightenment and the removal of darkness (ignorance), representing how knowledge guides a student's path and spreads light into society.
