Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) is a government fisheries university situated in Vettar River View Campus in the southern part of the city of Nagapattinam, Tamilnadu, India. It is about ten kilometres from the Nagapattinam Junction Railway Station. It is one of the premier fisheries universities. Its predominantly green colour emblem of the university has a gopuram representing the temple architecture of Tamilnadu and a flowing water body representing the domain of fish and fisheries, forming the backdrop for a traditional lamp symbolising light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity supported by an open book, which is a symbol of knowledge and wisdom. A pair of fish are placed on either side of the gopuram denoting the focus area of the university. All these are ensconced in a circular border with green outlines bearing the name of the university in Tamil and English. A pair of conches separates the languages. At the bottom on a green banner its motto ‘Educate Innovate Elevate’ is written. Between the circle and the banner, the acronym of its name is written.
