SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH STATE UNIVERSITY
The Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBSSU) was established by the Government of Punjab in 1995 with the name Shaheed Bhagat Singh College of Engineering and Technology as a tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh. In the academic year 2011-12, it was upgraded to the status of a technical campus and rechristened as Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus, Ferozepur. By an Act of the State Government of Punjab, it was declared as a university on April 1, 2021. The emblem of the university has a portrait of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, placed above the map of the State of Punjab on a motif of globe. These are ensconced by an orange gear wheel which bears the name of the university. Below these on a green banner ‘Ferozepur, Punjab’ is written. The globe signifies education, knowledge, influence, timelessness, global unity and interconnectedness; the gear denotes interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure; the colour orange signifies energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness and the colour green signifies agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.
