THE MAHARAJA BHUPINDER SINGH PUNJAB SPORTS UNIVERSITY

The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Patiala (MBSPSU) has been established vide Notification on August 29, 2019 under the Punjab Act No. 11 of 2019. The emblem of the university has a shield divided diagonally into blue and gold has a motif of a sports person and an open book, crested by a torch, supported by a horse and lion and placed on a banner carrying its motto in Punjabi ‘ਨਿਸਚੈ ਕਰ ਅਪਨੀ ਜੀਤ ਕਰੋ’ meaning ‘Resolve to Victory’. This quote is taken from the hymn of Dasam Granth by tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh. The horse signifies speed and energy and the lion signifies courage, confidence and pride. The book on the right and athlete on the left inscribed on the shield reflects knowledge and excellence in sports, respectively and the torch on top symbolises glory.
