The insignia of University of Mumbai (UoM) is a shield housing the motifs of its iconic tower, a pair of gear wheels and a factory building, a ship to represent the city of Mumbai’s port and an open book with ‘1857’, the year of its establishment written. Below the shield, on a brown banner, its motto in Sanskrit ‘शीलवृत्त फला विद्या’ meaning ‘Virtue is the Fruit of Knowledge’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; The factory and gear wheels denote the industrialisation of its geography and the open book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY JAMSHEDPUR National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (NIT Jamshedpur) or NITJSR) was formally inaugurated on August 15, 1960 at Adityapur. The peacock in its emblem represents the exuberance and pride in IIM Rohtak’s vision to be a global leader, while the Sanskrit words which read ‘Management Through Knowledge and Values’ (ज्ञानेन गुणेन च प्रबंधः) signify IIM Rohtak’s mission of knowledge diffusion, social commitment and value system (or corporate governance). Green circle represents the nature and environment that is fundamental to society’s progress and human happiness, whereas the red circle represents the vibrancy of the youth that energises education and sustains the progress of society. The white colour in the logo represents the underlying sense of purpose and the goal of social progress, while the open book signifies knowledge creation and dissemination.

VIDYAVARDHAKA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING Vidyavardhaka Sangha (VVS) was established in 1949 by Late Sahukar Channaiah and Late K. Puttaswamy to impart quality education to all sections of the society. Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) is one of the prestigious engineering colleges in Karnataka. Established in 1997. VVCE is an autonomous institute affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. Its emblem is a gearwheel with sixteen teeth in a dark violet colour encompassing a yellow border and a light green circle. The border carries the name of the college. The light green circle has a magnetic circuit, a manufacturing plant, a satellite, a dish antenna and a transmission tower, a tree, a bridge, a computer and a flask. This covers all the major areas of learning in the college. Its acronym is placed below the emblem.

Aurora - the name of the institution is derived from Aurora Borealis, the celestial northern lights. It also has association with the Sun God Apollo and the Roman Goddess of Dawn, Aurora. The logo has three critical components - the Italian colours - lilac and wild pink; the Egyptian pyramid signifying the letter A and most importantly, the logo being emblematic of the spirit of the university -'The Temple of Learning'. The concept and the colours are offbeat for the geography and for an educational institution.

It was rechristened as National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra on June 26, 2002. Its brown colour emblem is a gear wheel, in whose border the name of the institute and the place is written. In a circle within the gear a bow and an upward pointing arrow is placed. The bow radiates energy. NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY ANDHRA PRADESH National Institute of Technology, Andhra Pradesh (NIT AP) is the thirty-first institution among the chain of NITs started by the Government of India. NIT Andhra Pradesh was established in the state of Andhra Pradesh recently in the academic year 2015-2016. Its circular emblem has a ‘Poorna Kumbham’ or ‘Kalasha’ which means ‘Full or Complete Vessel’ when the pot is referred to as the Kalasha. The Purna-Kalasha is considered a symbol of abundance and 'Source of Life' in the Vedas. Purna-Kumbha is a Vedic motif, known from the time of Rigveda. It is held above the lotus, which is supported by a book and a pair of laurels of cereal on both the sides. These are ensconced in a circle, which is closed by a circular gear wheel, on which the name of the institute in Hindi and English and its tagline ‘श्रमेव जयते’ meaning ‘Hard Work Triumphs’ are written.
