SWAMI RAMANAND TEERTH MARATHWADA UNIVERSITY

Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMUN), Nanded was established on September 17, 1994 by the Government of Maharashtra. The university caters to the southern part of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra covering four districts of Nanded, Latur, Parbhani and Hingoli. The emblem of the university has a six petalled lotus holding a structure of an atom, supported by an eagle. Below this on an open book its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ meaning ‘That is the Knowledge which is for Liberation’ is placed. At the bottom its name is written in two lines. The motif of lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; atomic structure denotes the scope of science education and its depth; the eagle denotes adventure, power, awareness and a sense of purity, nobility, good luck and success and an open book symbolises knowledge and wisdom.
