Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT Dharwad) is an autonomous premier Science and Technology Institute established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 2016. Its emblem has a five petalled lotus in reddish blue colour with a golden yellow sun in its centre blooming over an open book. Sun symbolises energy, dynamism and reliability; lotus symbolises knowledge, purity, sanctity and divinity and the book represents knowledge, wisdom and education. Its tagline ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ in Sanskrit meaning ‘Knowledge is one that Liberates’ is placed at the bottom.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

XAVIER'S COLLEGE, DUMKA (SXCD) The emblem of St. Xavier's College, Dumka (SXCD) features a shield inscribed with the motifs of ‘IHS’ monogram within a sun, a traditional lamp and an open book supported by a yellow banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘To Enlighten and To Empower’. This assemblage is ensconced by a purple circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college.
