SANT GADGE BABA AMRAVATI UNIVERSITY
SANT GADGE BABA AMRAVATI UNIVERSITY |
Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University (SGBAU) was established on Maharashtra Day, on May 1, 1983. The emblem of the university has a glowing red sun on a yellow circular background, cresrted by its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ meaning ‘That which Liberates is Knowledge’ which forms part of a verse appearing in Vishnu-Purana (1.19.41) and supported by an open book bearing its year of establishment. It is ensconced in a yellow border which bears its name in English and Devanagari. A pair of floral laurels support this circular emblem. The sun symbolises light, universal prosperity and path for growth; the open book symbolises knowledge and wisdom and the laurels symbolises victory, success and achievement.
