Brahmacharini signifies self-discipline, penance and Tapasya or austerity, which she undertook to win Lord Shiva as her consort. The kamandal or water pot she carries represents the purity, peace, and inner calm attained through her spiritual practices. Unlike other forms of Durga, she walks barefoot, symbolising simplicity, grace, and steadfastness in her spiritual journey; Her white attire is a symbol of purity, peace, and serenity; and as an unmarried form of Goddess Parvati, she symbolises the state of complete devotion and aspiration towards a higher spiritual purpose.
