ARIGNAR ANNA GOVERNMENT ARTS COLLEGE-VILLUPURAM (AAGACV) The circular emblem of Arignar Anna Government Arts College-Villupuram (AAGACV) features a ‘gopuram’ (temple tower) supporting a lotus on water, an open book, a traditional lamp and a clock ensconced by a green circular border inscribed with the name of the college in Tamil. Below the seal, on a banner, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘ஓதல் ஒழுக்கம் ஒற்றுமை’ meaning ‘Study Discipline Unity’ is inscribed. The gopuram denotes the State of Tamilnadu and its rich heritage; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; and the clock symbolises the passage of time, mortality, and life's fleeting nature, representing cycles of birth and death but also urgency, disc...
