AYYA NADAR JANAKI AMMAL COLLEGE (ANJAC) The emblem of Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College (ANJAC) features a shield inscribed with the motifs of a lotus, an open book, and a candle with glowing flame and its initials ‘ANJAC’. Below the shield, on a banner the motto of the college in Latin ‘Pro Deo Et Patria’ meaning ‘For God and Country’ is inscribed. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the book refers to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; and the glowing candle symbolises light, hope, and spiritual enlightenment, representing the soul, divine presence, or inner guidance, while also signifying remembrance, passion, transformation, and the fleeting nature of life, often used in rituals for prayer, peace, celebration, or honoring the deceased across cultures.
