GOVERNMENT ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, METTUPALAYAM (GASCMTP) The emblem of Government Arts And Science College, Mettupalayam (GASCMTP) features the motifs of an open book, a bow and arrow with the nib of a pen, a microscope, a veena, a mountain range and a pair of laurels. These are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The motto of the college in Tamil ‘திறம்பட கல் உலகினை வெல்’ meaning ‘Study Effectively, Conquer the World’ is inscribed on a blue banner placed below the seal. The book refers to learning, knowledge, education and wisdom; the bow and arrow with a pen head symbolises intellectual strength, skill, focus, and purpose, representing divine power, readiness for battle, protection, and guidance; the microscope and veena refer to science and arts respectively, and the laurels are are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
