VOORHEES COLLEGE The emblem of Voorhees College features an orange, white and blue striped shield inscribed with the motifs of a traditional lamp, its initials ‘VC’, a cross and a lotus on water. The shield is supported by an orange banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘In Vain Without God’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the Cross refers to Christianity and the college’s religious affiliation; and the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty.
