GOVERNMENT MEDICAL COLLEGE ARIYALUR (GMC ARIYALUR) The emblem of Government Medical College Ariyalur (GMC Ariyalur) features a circle housing an image of of the Gangaikondacholisvarar Temple (Gangaikondacholapuram) supported the Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents. The motifs are ensconced by a decorative circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. Below the seal, on a banner, the motto of the college in Tamil is inscribed. The temple refers to the historical heritage of the place; the staff with snakes has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
