GOVERNMENT ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, KOOTHANALLUR (GASCWKNR) The emblem of Government Arts and Science College for Women, Koothanallur (GASCWKNR) features a shield inscribed with the motifs of a lady with a mortarboard hat, a trophy, a set of abstract humans, and an open book. The shield is supported by a pair of crests of paddy on sides and a red banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘கற்க கசடற’ (391, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘Learn Thoroughly What Should be Learned’. All the motifs are ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lady with hat symbolises educational achievement by women; the trophy refers to success and achievement; the humans refer to the beneficiaries of the college; the book refers to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; and the paddy refers to food security and sustenance.
