GOVERNMENT ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, SATHYAMANGALAM (GASCSATHY) The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Sathyamangalam (GASCSATHY) features a circle with the motifs of a lotus, a traditional lamp, a hoe, and an open book ensconced by a circular border inscribed with with the name and place of the college. The seal is supported by a pair of laurels on the sides and from the bottom by a banner inscribed with the college’s motto in Tamil ‘அன்பு அறிவு உயர்வு’ meaning ‘Love Knowledge Excellence’. The lotus is a symbol of purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the hoe refers to agriculture and farmers; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
