GOVERNMENT ENGINEERING COLLEGE, WAYANAD (GECWYD) The circular seal of Government Engineering College, Wayanad (GECWYD) features a number of elements. The central element, lamp with flame symbolises knowledge, enlightenment, and the pursuit of wisdom. The lamp is surmounted by a partial gearwheel denoting interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure. The banner on which the lamp rests is inscribed with its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘Lead Me from Darkness to Light’.
