GOVERNMENT KARUR MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL (KARURGMC) The emblem of Government Karur Medical College and Hospital (KarurGMC) features the motifs of confluence of  rivers Cauvery and Amaravati supporting the Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents and crested by an open book. These motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The motto of the college ‘Learning to Serve’ is inscribed on a red banner placed below the seal. The rivers Cauvery and Amaravati nourish the District of Karur. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession.
