GOVERNMENT ARTS COLLEGE, ARIYALUR (GAC ARIYALUR) The emblem of Government Arts College, Ariyalur (GAC Ariyalur) features a shield housing the motifs of the gopuram of Sri Gangaikondacholisvarar Temple built by Rajendra Chola I; a blue lotus, a traditional lamp; an open book and laboratory equipment. Below the shield on a banner the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அன்பு அறிவு அறம்’ meaning ‘Love Knowledge Virtue’ is inscribed. The name of the college surmounts the shield. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the gopuram refers to heritage, history and divine blessings and guidance; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the laboratory equipment refer to science; the lamp light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; and the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty.
