GOVERNMENT THIRUVARUR MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL (TMCTVR) The emblem of Government Thiruvarur Medical College and Hospital (TMCTVR) features the Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents supported by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘गतिष्यत’ which translates to ‘will move forward’. The motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college and its year of establishment. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession.
