PURATCHI THALAIVAR DR. M.G.R. GOVERNMENT ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, UTHIRAMERUR (GASC UTHIRAMERUR) The emblem of Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.R. Government Arts and Science College, Uthiramerur (GASC Uthiramerur) features a shield inscribed with the name of the college in Tamil supported by the gopuram of the Sri Sundaravarada Perumal Temple in Uthiramerur temple, women working in a paddy field and a stone inscription of the Uthiramerur Temple inscription, which elaborates on the election system. The motto of the college in Tamil ‘கல்வி உழைப்பு மனிதநேயம்’ meaning ‘Education Labour Humanity’ is inscribed on a banner placed below the shield. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the gopuram symbolises divine blessings and guidance; the paddy field refers to agriculture and irrigation; and the inscription symbolises the history, heritage and civilization.
