ETHIRAJ COLLEGE FOR WOMEN (ETHIRAJ COLLEGE) The emblem of Ethiraj College for Women (Ethiraj College) features a shield housing the motifs of a four-pointed star, a ladder, a sailboat, a hand baton and an urn supported by its motto ‘To Strive, To Seek, To Find and Not To Yield’ and a pair of laurels. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the ladder refers to ascent, connection between realms (heaven and earth), spiritual progress, and ambition; the sailboat refers to life's journey, adventure, transition, and freedom, representing navigating challenges (the sea) using inner strengths (sails) and purpose (compass or rudder) towards goals; the hand with a baton refers to leadership, authority, transition, and teamwork; the urn refers to life, death, memory, and eternity; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
