BASAVAKALYAN ENGINEERING COLLEGE (BEC) The emblem of Basavakalyan Engineering College (BEC) features an image of Sri Basaveshwara placed inside a gearwheel supporting the motifs of a waterdam,a computer, a satellite dish antenna, a satellite, a traditional lamp and rail engine; ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college. This assemblage is supported by an open book written on with its motto in Kannada ‘ಅರಿವೇ ಗುರು’ meaning ‘Knowledge is Guru’. The initials of the college are written below the book in red extrabold sans-serif capitals. The year of establishment is written at the bottom.Sri Basaveshwara is a twelfth century philosopher, social reformer, and statesman. His presence signifies the college's connection to his principles of social justice, equality, and spiritual wisdom, which are deeply rooted in the Basavakalyan region's history.
