SETHUPATHY GOVERNMENT ARTS COLLEGE, RAMANATHAPURAM (SGACRMD) The shield shaped emblem of Sethupathy Government Arts College, Ramanathapuram (SGACRMD) inscribed with the motifs of a ‘kuthuvilakku’ (a traditional lamp), the temple gopuram of Sri Swaminathaswami Temple and a sailboat on sea and supported by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘அறிவே அறுந்துணை’ and ‘Knowledge is Power’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the temple gopuram refers to the heritage and history and divine blessings and grace; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; and the sailboat on sea refers to the Bay of Bengal and major employment of fishing on seas and fishermen.
