GOVERNMENT ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, ANTHIYUR (GASC ANTHIYUR) The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Anthiyur (GASC Anthiyur) features a shield housing the motifs of a gopuram, a pair of traditional lamps, an open book and a hoe, ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. Below the seal, on a banner, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அறிவு ஒழுக்கம் உயர்வு’ meaning ‘Knowledge Discipline Excellence’ is inscribed. The shield refers to protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the book refers to learning, knowledge, education and wisdom; the hoe refers to agriculture; the gopuram refers to divine blessings and guidance; the lamps symbolise light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.
