K.A.P. VISWA NATHAM GOVERNMENT MEDICAL COLLEGE (KAPVMC) The emblem of K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College (KAPVMC) features a Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents supported ensconced by a pair of green laurels. The motifs are surmounted by a banner inscribed with the name and place of the college and supported by another banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Care Serve Cure’. The Staff is crested by an image of the Rockfort, which is a landmark of Tiruchirapally. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession. It originates from the story of Asclepius, who was revered by the ancient Greeks as a god of healing and whose cult involved the use of snakes. The colour green indicates agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.
