INDIAN INSTITUTE OF PETROLEUM AND ENERGY (IIPE) The emblem of Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) features a drop of oil superimposed with a handshake and supported by an open book and a pair of laurels. These motifs are ensconced in a circular border inscribed with the name of the college in English and Devanagari. Below the seal, the place of the college is written and at the bottom, the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘विद्या प्रशस्यते लोकैः’ (Chanakya Niti) meaning ‘Knowledge is extolled by Everyone’ is placed. The oil drop symbolises petroleum; the handshake refers to the student and the teacher; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
