GOVERNMENT VELLORE MEDICAL COLLEGE (GVMC)
GOVERNMENT VELLORE MEDICAL COLLEGE (GVMC) The emblem of Government Vellore Medical College (GVMC) features the motifs of Vellore Fort with Sri Jalakandeswara Temple supported by the Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents. These motifs are surmounted by the name of the college and supported by its year of establishment. All these are ensconced by a circular outline. The motto of the college ‘Learn to Heal’ is inscribed on a banner placed below the seal. All these elements are placed in a circle with a green border. The Vellore Fort and the temple are the historical and well-known landmarks of the city of Vellore. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession.
