ANNA VINAYAGAR COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (AVCE) The emblem of Anna Vinayagar College of Education (AVCE) features a shield housing a circle inscribed with an image of Lord Ganesha supported by an open book at the bottom and a pair of traditional hanging lamps on sides with the name and place of the college written along the periphery. The shield is crested by a tiara. On a banner placed below the shield the motto of the college in Tamil ‘வாய்மையே வெல்லும்’ meaning ‘Truth Alone Triumphs’ is inscribed. Lord Ganesha symbolises wisdom, prosperity, beginnings and removal of obstacles; the shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the lamps symbolise light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; and the tiara refers to royalty, status, power, wealth, beauty, victory and divinity.
