ARIGNAR ANNA GOVERNMENT ARTS COLLEGE, CHEYYAR (AAGACC) The emblem of Arignar Anna Government Arts College, Cheyyar (AAGACC) features a shield housing the motifs of a ‘kuthuvilakku’ (the traditional lamp).a handloom and a weaver and an image of Sri Vedhapureeswarar Temple, Cheyyar. The shield is supported by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அறிவுடையார் எல்லாம் உடையார்’ (Thiruvalluvar, 330, Thirukkutal) meaning ‘Those Who possess Wisdom Possess Everything’ and a pair of elephants. The name of the college in Tamil is written on a banner surmounting the shield. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lamp symbolises symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the handloom and the weaver refer to the major occupation of the region; and the temple is the historical heritage of the place and the elephants signify power, strength, unity and wisdom.
