ANNAI ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE (AASC) The emblem of Annai Arts and Science College (AASC) features a circle housing the motifs of a mortarboard hat, three stars, a pair of hands supporting an abstract human head, an open book and a pair of laurels ensconced by a brown circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. On a yellow ochre banner placed below the seal, the motto of the college ‘Discipline Knowledge Excellence’ is inscribed. The mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; the stars symbolise excellence, high quality and achievement; the human head refers to the beneficiary students; the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the lamp refers to light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; and the laurels are are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
