GOVERNMENT ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, THARANGAMBADI (GAASCT) The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Tharangambadi (GAASCT) features a shield inscribed with the images of a stack of books, a bar chart, a computer monitor and an image of Tharangambadi Fort, also known as Fort Dansborg. The shield is supported by a pair of laurels and surmounted by the motto of the college in Tamil ‘உள்ளத்தனையது உயர்வு’ (595, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘A Person is As High As His Will’. The motifs are ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the books refer to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the barchart refers to economics and finance; the computer refers to technology and the Tharangambadi Fort refers to colonialism and imperialism.
