DR. KALAIGNAR GOVERNMENT ARTS COLLEGE, KULITHALAI (DKGACKIT) The emblem of Dr. Kalaignar Government Arts College, Kulithalai (DKGACKIT) features an image of Sri Kadambavaneswarar Temple and the motifs of a plantain tree, a traditional lamp and palm leaf manuscripts ensconced by a yellow circular banner inscribed with the name and place of the college. At the bottom, on a yellow banner, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அறிவே உயர்வு’ meaning ‘Knowledge is Supreme’ is written. The temple refers to the local heritage and history and the blessings and guidance of the divine; the plantain tree symbolises fertility, prosperity, nourishment, and the cycle of life; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the palm leaf manuscripts refer to traditional knowledge, heritage, education, learning and wisdom.
