GOVERNMENT ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, MANAPPARAI (GASCM) The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Manapparai (GASCM) features a golden shield housing the motifs of a trophy, an open book, a torch with flame and a mortarboard hat supported by a pair of laurels. The name of the college is written at the bottom on a blue banner. The motto of the college in Tamil ‘அறிவே வெல்லும்’ meaning ‘Knowledge Will Prevail’ surmounts the shield. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the trophy symbolises hardwork, practice and success; the book refers to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; the torch with flame symbolises lame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
