TIRUNELVELI MEDICAL COLLEGE (TVMC) The circular emblem of Tirunelveli Medical College (TVMC) features the Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents crested by a crest of paddy and supported by a banner inscribed with the name of the college and its motto ‘Duty Dignity Discipline’, on a red circle ensconced by a white circular border. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession; and the crest of the paddy refers to the Tirunelveli, the ‘Granary of the South’.
