S.T. HINDU COLLEGE (STHC) The emblem of S.T. Hindu College (STHC) features a shield housing a ‘kuthuvilakku’ (a traditional lamp), a plough with a crest of rice, an image of Goddess Saraswati, and a gopuram. The shield is supported by a pair of elephants on the sides and a banner at the bottom inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘ஒழுக்கம் விழுப்பம் தரும்’ (Thiruvalluvar, 131, Thirukkural) meaning ‘Propriety of Conduct Leads to Eminence’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lamp symbolises symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the plough and paddy refer to agriculture; and the gopuram symbolises God and divine blessings; and the elephants signify power, strength, unity and wisdom.
