GOVERNMENT COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, KOLHAPUR ( GCOEK ) The emblem of Government College of Engineering, Kolhapur (GCOEK) features a gearwheel housing the traditional Maharashtrian lamp ‘ Laman Diva ’ in a circle. The gearwheel is surmounted by the name of the managing Directorate of the college in Marathi ‘महाराष्ट्र शासन तंत्रशिक्षण संचालनालय’ and ensconced by a circle. At the bottom, on a banner, the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘राष्ट्रोद्धाराय तंत्र शिक्षणम्’ meaning ‘Technical Education for the Upliftment of the Nation’ is inscribed. The gearwheel denotes technology, engineering, interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; and the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.
