GOVERNMENT ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, THIRUMANGALAM (GASC TMM) The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Thirumangalam (GASC TMM) features a circle with an image of the gopuram of Sri Chidambareswarar Temple and the motifs of a traditional lamp ensconced by a pair of laurels, a hockey player, a cricket player, a mortarboard hat, a computer, a microscope and an open book. The motifs are ensconced by a red and white circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. On a green banner placed below the seal, the motto of the college in Tamil. The gopuram refers to to the place’s history and heritage and divine grace and blessings; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the laurels are are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; and the other symbols denote education, learning, sports, educational achievement, science and technology.
