GOVERNMENT ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, ARAKKONAM (GASC ARAKKONAM) The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Arakkonam (GASC Arakkonam) features a dark violet shield housing the image of poet Thiruvalluvar and the motifs of a stack of books and a laptop computer ensconced by a pink circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. A yellow banner supporting the shield is inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘கற்க கசடற’ (391, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘Learn Thoroughly What Should be Learned’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the books refer to learning, knowledge, education and wisdom; and the image of Thiruvalluvar refers to Tamil literature and heritage.
