GOVERNMENT THIRUVANNAMALAI MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL (GTMCH) The emblem of Government Thiruvannamalai Medical College and Hospital (GTMCH) features the motifs of renowned Sri Annamalaiyar Temple with Annamalai Hill and Kartigai Deepam supported by the Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents. These motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The motto of the college ‘Enlighten Healing’ is inscribed on a banner placed below the seal. The Sri Annamalaiyar Temple with Annamalai Hill and Kartigai Deepam are the historical and well-known landmarks of the city of Tiruvannamalai. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession.
