THIRU. VI.KA GOVERNMENT ARTS COLLEGE, THIRUVARUR (THIRU. VI.KA COLLEGE) The emblem of Thiru. Vi.Ka Government Arts College, Thiruvarur (Thiru. Vi.Ka College) features a purple shield inscribed with the motifs of a traditional lamp, a veena, a chariot and a cow pulling the bell of justice. The shield is supported by a pair of crests of paddy on sides and crested by the State Emblem of Tamilnadu. A red banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘என் கடன் பணி செய்து கிடப்பதே’ (5.019.9, Devaram, Thirunavukkarasar (Appar)) meaning ‘My Duty is to Do the Work’ is placed on the shield at the bottom. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the veena refers to arts, culture, heritage and the birth place of ‘Trinity of Carnatic Music’; the chariot refers to the ‘Azhi Ther of Thiruvarur’ which is Asia's largest temple chariot; the...
