BHARATHIYAR ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE FOR WOMEN (BASCW) The emblem of Bharathiyar Arts and Science College for Women (BASCW) features a portrait of Mahkavi Bharathiyar supported by an open book inscribed with the motifs of a computer and a person writing on a notebook, a traditional lamp, a lotus on water, a veena (a violin?) ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. Below the seal, on a banner, the motto of the college ‘Discipline Education Progress’ is written. Mahakavi Bharathiyar is a nationalistic poet, who strived to awaken India from colonial slumber, empowering women, and fostering social equality.
