RAJIV GANDHI MEMORIAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, KATHUA (RGMCE KATHUA) The emblem of Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Kathua (RGMCE Kathua) features an open book and a hand holding a flaming torch, ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and its place. The seal is supported by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad), which translates ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’. The torch with flame or flambeau represents enlightenment, truth and the dispersion of darkness (ignorance) through education; and the book symbolises academic learning, accessible knowledge and continuous scholarship.
