PURUSHOTTAM INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY (PIET) The emblem of Purushottam Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) features a yellow sun or glow placed in a blue circle with an open book placed on a book reading stand. The blue circle is ensconced by a white circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The seal is supported by a pair of laurels. Below the seal, on a blue banner, the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Unreal Lead Me to the Real. From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written. The book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
