GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, HANDWARA (GDC HANDWARA) The emblem of Government Degree College, Handwara (GDC Handwara) features an open book inscribed with the words ‘Knowledge is Power’, another book and a lighted candle, ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name of the college. A red banner inscribed with a Arabic prayer ‘رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا’, which translates to ‘O my Lord, Increase Me in Knowledge’ is placed below the motifs. The book symbolises formal education, literacy, and continuous learning ; and the lit candle symbolises the illumination of mind and soul, guiding students away from the darkness of ignorance through wisdom.
