Image
GOVERNMENT COLLEGE DHARAMSHALA (GC DHARAMSHALA) The emblem of Government College Dharamshala (GC Dharamshala) features a yellow circle housing a shield carrying the images of a snow-cladded mountain peak and a pine or deodar tree, supported by a red banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘असतोमा सद्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad), which translates to ‘Lead me from Unreal to the Real’. The circle is ensconced by a dark blue circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The text ‘Estd. 1926’is written at the bottom of the seal. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the mountain range with peak refers to the snow-capped peak of the majestic Dhauladhar mountains, which form the direct physical backdrop of the campus in the Kangra Valley. The pine or deodar tree refers to the characteristic dense, green forests surrounding Dharamshala.
