GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, RAMNAGAR (GDC RAMNAGAR) The emblem of Government Degree College, Ramnagar (GDC Ramnagar) features a light blue circle housing the motifs of an open book supporting a traditional lamp, surmounted by a blue banner inscribed with the name of the college. Below the seal, on a yellow banner, the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad), which translates to ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written. The year of establishment of the college is written on a red banner placed at the bottom. The book symbolises knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; and the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.
