GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, BASOHLI (GDC BASOHLI) The emblem of Government Degree College, Basohli (GDC Basohli) features an open book inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Knowledge is Power, Let it come to us from Every Source. The book is surmounted by a yellow rising sun and supported by a pair of green laurels. The motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The tagline of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written on a banner placed on the seal at the bottom. The book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
