GOVERNMENT M.A.M. COLLEGE, JAMMU (GMAMC JAMMU) The emblem of Government M.A.M. College, Jammu (GMAMC Jammu) features a circle housing the motifs of a mountain range with peaks and flowing river and a traditional lamp placed over an open book and the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘विद्या ददाति विनयम्’ (Narayan Pandit, 6, Hitopadesha), which translates to ‘Education Makes one Humble’. The lamp represents the illumination of the mind and the removal of ignorance and its flame symbolises continuous learning, guidance and the transition from darkness to intellectual light; the book symbolises formal education, structured knowledge and accessible learning; the mountain range with peaks and the river symbolise the Trikuta or broader Himalayan mountain ranges of Jammu and Kashmir and it stands for high ideals, steadfastness and the ultimate peak of academic achievement that students are encouraged to scale.
